Where Is The Langtang Valley Located?

Altitude Sickness Tips For Langtang Beginners
Before diving directly into the altitude sickness tips for first-timers trekking in the Langtang Valley, you better learn about the types of altitude sickness and their symptoms first. There are three kinds of altitude sicknesses: Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), High-Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE), and High-Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE).
Among these sicknesses, AMS is the first phase or you can simply call it mild one. The other two are life-threatening causes after AMS is taken lightly. Okay, now, let's figure out their symptoms below:

Once you reach the elevation of 3,000 m, don't ascend more than 500 m a day.
Prioritise the foods that contain high levels of carbohydrates like potatoes, rice, and pasta. Moreover, prefer veg-meal while you can until you make it up to Tserko Ri, the highest point.
Avoid oily and over-fried foods and also, alcohol and cigarettes during trekking.
Take Acetazolamide, a medicine that helps prevent the symptoms of AMS, which is available in all pharmacies with the brand name, Diamox. It is available in the market with 250 mg, and you should take half of the tablet (125 mg) after breakfast and another half after dinner. Start taking it 48 hours before the trek and keep continuing the process. After reaching 3,000 m, take it for 48 hours more and you can finally stop.
Note: We highly recommend you contact your preferred doctor before you take acetazolamide to avoid altitude sickness. This is because it has side effects, such as tingling, altered taste, vomiting, etc. The medicine varies depending on the human's body, not necessary that everyone can handle its reaction. Therefore, it's better to be concerned with a doctor before taking it.
What Is The Best Time To Visit Langtang Valley For Beginners?
Actually, there are two peak seasons considered the best time for trekking in the Langtang Valley: spring and autumn (fall). Speaking of the month, March to May falls in spring, while September to November in autumn.

Not only in December but anytime during winter, you can enjoy trekking in the valley. However, winter weather can behave unexpectedly, and that can create possible challenges, especially mid-winter (in January). In January, you can expect daytime temperatures at lower elevation locations such as Syabrubesi (1,503 m) and Lama Hotel (2,470 m) to be between 10 to 15°C and nighttime temperatures between -5 to 5°C.
At higher elevation locations like Langtang Village (3,430 m) and Kyanjin Gompa (3,865 m), daytime temperatures are around 0 to 5°C, and nighttime can drop from -10 to 5°C. For an experienced trekker, this would not be much of a concern. But for first-timers, the possibility of being cold is more of an issue, particularly at night.

For beginners, packing is one of the crucial things to know before leaving home for Langtang Valley Trekking. If you don't know what to put and what not to in your backpack, you'll face trouble during your journey because, in such remote locations, you won't find a shop to buy gear later.
Accordingly, you shall be fully prepared when you fix a plan to go on an adventure. Some essential packing lists are mentioned below:

There are two types of permits that you will required for the Langtang Valley Hike. They are:
