You start your day early in the morning with a steady climb through lush rhododendron and oak forests, following a well-marked stone trail. As you move higher, the air becomes cooler, and the forest becomes denser, filled with birdsong and the scent of damp earth.

Along the way, you pass small resting spots and traditional stone houses that give you a glimpse into local mountain life. As the altitude gradually increases, the forest opens up to occasional viewpoints where you can catch your first glimpses of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli on clear days. The final stretch to Ghorepani involves a series of uphill stone steps, but the rewarding scenery and refreshing mountain breeze keep your energy high.

Max. Altitude: 2,880 m (9,449 ft)Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerAccommodation: Teahouse in GhorepaniDuration: 4–5 hoursDistance: 8 km (5 miles)

You wake up around 4:30 AM to hike to Poon Hill for a stunning sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Poon Hill Viewpoint is within about an hour of walking distance from Ghorepani. After spending about an hour at the viewpoint, you return to Ghorepani for breakfast. Then you trek through forest trails and ridge paths to reach Tadapani. Overnight, you’ll spend at a comfortable teahouse in Tadapani.

You descend through a dense forest to reach Ghandruk, one of the most beautiful Gurung villages in Nepal. The trail offers occasional openings where you can enjoy views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre shimmering above the valley. After exploring Ghandruk’s traditional stone houses, cultural museum, and terraced fields, you continue toward Landruk, following a scenic path lined with small farms and hillside settlements. Landruk sits on a sunny terrace overlooking the valley, offering a quieter atmosphere and stunning views of Annapurna South, perfect for relaxing after a rewarding day’s walk.

Max. Altitude: 2,630 m (8,629 ft)Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerAccommodation: Teahouse in LandrukDuration: 5–6 hoursDistance: 12 km (7.5 miles)

You start climbing steadily through forest trails as you gain more than 1,400 m (4,593 ft) in elevation today. The route passes through Pitam Deurali, a picturesque junction point offering your last views of the lower villages before you enter dense rhododendron and moss-covered forests. As the trail gets steeper, you’ll notice the vegetation gradually thinning and the temperature dropping.

Small clearings along the route provide glimpses of the valley below, and if the weather is clear, you may spot langur monkeys or various Himalayan birds along the way. By late afternoon, you reach Low Camp. Low Camp’s tea houses offer a warm dining hall and basic but cosy rooms, making it a comfortable place to rest after a long climb.

Max. Altitude: 3,050 m (10,007 ft)Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerAccommodation: Teahouse in Low CampDuration: 6–7 hoursDistance: 10–11 km (6.2–6.8 miles)

Today, the route takes you above the tree line, and the landscape changes dramatically as you leave the dense forest behind. You walk along a stunning ridgeline. The trail becomes more open and airy, offering wide horizons and a true high-altitude trekking experience.

As you follow the incline, you’ll notice alpine shrubs, dwarf bamboo, and rugged grasslands replacing the forest vegetation. The ridge also gives you opportunities to spot Himalayan bird species and, on rare occasions, Himalayan thar grazing on steep slopes.

By early to mid-afternoon, you reach High Camp (3,600 m / 11,811 ft). The views from here are even more dramatic, especially during sunset when the peaks turn golden. High Camp’s tea houses provide basic but warm accommodation, making it a perfect base before your ascent to Mardi Base Camp the next day.

Max. Altitude: 3,600 m (11,811 ft)Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerAccommodation: Teahouse in High CampDuration: 4–5 hoursDistance: 8 km (5 miles)

You start early, around 4:30–5:00 AM, to reach Mardi Base Camp. The trail is narrow and follows a rugged ridgeline, but every step becomes more rewarding as the sky begins to brighten. As the sun rises, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, and Mardi Himal light up with shades of gold and pink.

The final approach to Mardi Base Camp (4,500 m / 14,764 ft) takes you across alpine meadows and rocky sections. After spending time at the viewpoint and capturing the incredible scenery, you descend carefully back to High Camp, where you’ll have a warm breakfast.

After resting, you continue your descent toward Badal Danda, following the same ridge but with different perspectives of the valley and mountains. Badal Danda sits just above the cloud line, offering sweeping views and a peaceful place to unwind after an adventurous day.

Max. Altitude: 4,500 m (14,764 ft)Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerAccommodation: Teahouse in Badal DandaDuration: 7–8 hoursDistance: 12–14 km (7.5–8.7 miles)

You start your descent from Badal Danda, following a beautiful trail that gradually takes you back into dense rhododendron and oak forests. As you lose altitude, the landscape becomes greener and warmer. The trail offers a pleasant change from the ridge walk of previous days as the route is quieter, shaded, and rich with birdlife. After a steady downhill walk, you reach Siding, a peaceful village known for its calm atmosphere and traditional Gurung homes.

From Siding, you board a private jeep and begin the drive back to Pokhara. You arrive in Pokhara by late afternoon, where you can finally enjoy a hot shower, a comfortable hotel room at a 3-star hotel, and the relaxing lakeside environment. You can also purchase some mementoes to take home, enjoy live music at Pokhara, or just rest in your hotel room.
