Find the Best Local Tour Operator in Kathmandu to Explore Nepal’s Hidden Gems
Why Is Choosing A Local Tour Operator In Kathmandu Important?
Leaving your comfort zone and moving to some other country like Nepal at your leisure to experience what you cannot have in your place will give you high expectations in such circumstances. This is because it costs you both your time and money, which you certainly don't want to see go to waste, not even a moment or penny.
Thus, to make your travel in Nepal successful and worthy, it is important to choose among the best tour operators in Kathmandu. Not only in the capital city but also in other cities such as Pokhara, Narayanghat, etc, you can find a tour operator to help you with your travel program.
Exploring the country through a travel agency will never make you regret it later. Also, it is a rule here made by Nepal's government to have at least a tour or trekking guide with you to travel to any destination within the country for your safety.
There are several other benefits to working with a travel or trekking agency to map out your holiday in Nepal. They are all listed below:
Local Experience
To stroll around the well-known places in Nepal, such as the Kathmandu Valley, the Pokhara Valley, Chitwan National Park, Lumbini, etc., you will need a professional guide that can enhance your travel by explaining everything about the place you are visiting, from top to bottom. Although you can also communicate with other locals about the importance of the site while touring, you sometimes still need a guide because the universal language, English, is not entirely common to all here.
It may cause problems in understanding things you want to know about due to the language barrier. In such conditions, local tour operators can help out clearly. They have a deep understanding of Nepal's geography, hidden gem, and culture and traditions.
They can provide you with an experienced guide with proper language skills besides English like French, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, German, etc. who can take care of your things and interests. They can explain the deep history and other things about your visiting place from their learning and experiences. Doing so you don't have to rely on the locals or any strangers along the way.
Customized Service
As we all know, we have come so far in a highly advanced and modernized world, where we have lots of tasks to complete as soon as possible for a handsome earning. In the process, sometimes we don't even have time for family and friends and in such a busy schedule, thinking about planning our holiday, tour, or travel is beyond our reach.
In the meantime, if you choose any of the local operators to work out on your trip, they will assist you in arranging your program by preparing a proper itinerary, total budget, and some other things related to travel according to your demand. They can easily customize the service for your convenience.
Cost-Effective
Local travel agencies usually offer better rates compared to international tour operators. This is because they have proper knowledge regarding the current price of everything in their country and are closer to every current situation than the international agencies.
Help Local Economy
Choosing a local tour agency for your holiday is not only beneficial for you but also for the local community. It generates employment opportunities for the locals in the country. Your investment will be their earnings, and the more wisely you choose to pay, the more smooth service they will provide you in return.
The Ammonite Adventure and Treks are a hardworking team. We include all of these four things in our quality service. You can rely on us for your travel program.

The Kathmandu Valley is an ancient and historical valley that consists of three cities: Kathmandu (the capital city), Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur. All three cities are famous for their cultural and ancient monuments, especially of the Newari community.
Seven out of 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Nepal are in the valley. Among these sites, four are in Kathmandu, two are in Bhaktapur, and the remaining one is in Lalitpur. Here is the breakdown of the sites:
Kathmandu
-
Kathmandu Durbar Square: Located in Basantapur, showcasing beautiful Newari architecture, courtyards, shrines, and ancient temples. It was once the royal home to the Malla and Shah kings. Currently, it is a cultural and religious hub. Some other attractions in the area are Taleju Temple, Hanuman Dhoka Palace, and Kumari Ghar (house of the living goddess).
- Swoyambhunath Stupa: The stupa is also called the Monkey Temple, as the entire area is home to monkeys and is one of the most holy sites for Buddhists. It is a white dome with a golden spire placed on the top and all-seeing eyes in the middle, and it sits on the hilltop in Kathmandu, offering stunning views of the city.
- Boudhanath Stupa: The stupa is also similar to the Swoyambhu in structure. However, it is huger than Swoyambhu and one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world. The area is surrounded by other Tibetan monasteries and prayer wheels, making it a home to Tibetan Buddhists.
- Pashupatinath Temple: The temple is one of the religious sites for Hindus. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located on the banks of the Bagmati River. It is built in pagoda style with a gilded roof, silver doors, and detailed wood carvings. Thousands of devotees from Nepal and India gather here to worship Lord Shiva yearly during Mahashivaratri.

Bhaktapur
- Changunarayan Temple: The temple is situated on a hilltop of the district. It is considered one of the oldest temples of Hindu, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It displays Newari architecture, stone carvings, detailed wood, and ancient inscriptions believed to have been constructed in the 5th century. It is encompassed by traditional Newari villages, delivering historical and cultural importance. It is an ideal place for history and art enthusiasts.
- Bhaktapur Durbar Square: The Durbar Square is an ancient palace complex, popular for its well-maintained Newari architecture, statues, temples, and courtyards. It was once home to the Malla Kings of Bhaktapur. The area consists of some other attractions Nyatapola Temple, The Golden Gate, 55 Windows Palace, and Vatsala Temple, making it a best destination for history and art lovers.

Lalitpur
- Patan Durbar Square: It is famous for Newari art and culture like Kathmandu and Bhaktapur Durbar Squares. It is situated in Mangal Bazar and was home to the Malla Kings of the city. Other essential attractions on the site are the Taleju Temple, Krishna Temple, and Hiranya Varna Mahavihar (Golden Temple).

Besides these sites, there are also several places to stroll around in the valley. In spite of the fact that they are not recognized as World Heritage sites by UNESCO, they hold the historical, cultural, and natural beauty significance of the country. These locations are:
- Budhanilkantha Temple
- Dakshinkali Temple
- Pharping
- Chovar Hill
- Godawari Botanical Garden
- Chandragiri Hill
- Shivapuri-Nagarjuna National Park
- Nagarkot
- Sundarijal
- Sankhu
- Sanga Shiva Statue
- Lakhuri Bhangjyang, and many more
All these places either UNESCO World Heritage Sites or others in the valley are perfect for those who prefer city, historical, and cultural tours over adventure activities like trekking and hiking. Therefore, if you are among such tour lovers, then we can wisely design the Kathmandu sightseeing tour packages by adding some of the above-mentioned sites as per your choice at an affordable price.

Annapurna Base Camp Trekking
Its abbreviation is the ABC Trek. The trek takes place in the Kaski district of Gandaki Province in western Nepal. It goes through the villages of the Gurung people, providing trekkers with the opportunity to observe their distinct culture and traditions.
This is considered a moderate trek that normally takes 5 to 7 days to finish. There are three starting locations: Ghandruk (1,950 m/6,398 ft), Ghorepani (2,874 m/9,429 ft), and Jhinu (1,760m/5,774 ft). Jhinu, though, is the most habitual starting and stopping phenomenon of the trek while also allowing the trek to just take four days.
The trek is especially famous for the closer view of Annapurna I (8,091 m/26,545 ft) from the highest and main location, ABC (4,130 m/13, 550 ft), where the trek routes through Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m/12, 139 ft). There are various views that can be seen from this point such as Machhapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail, 6,993 m/22,943 ft), Hiunchuli (6,441 m/21,132 ft), Gangapurna (7,455 m/24,459 ft), and other peaks.
Annapurna Circuit Trekking
The Annapurna Circuit Trek is rated as moderate to challenging and is typically completed in 8 to 10 days, depending on the starting point of the trek. It passes through three districts in the Annapurna Region: Lamjung, Manang, and Mustang.
Some trekkers begin from Chame (2,610 meters/8,890 feet), the district headquarters of Manang, this shortens the trek. However, most use the route from Jagat (1,300 meters/4,265 feet) in Lamjung, which takes approximately 10 days to finish. The trail ends in Muktinath (3,760 meters/12,623 feet) in Mustang.

Along the trek there are stunning views of the Annapurna Mountain Range. The highest point of the trek is Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters/17,756 feet), the highest pass in the world.
The trek also passes through beautiful villages such as Bhrathang (2,900 meters/9,500 feet), Upper Pisang (3,300 meters/10,827 feet), and Manang Village (the oldest village in the whole district, 4,050 meters/14,275 feet), where you can experience the Manange culture. Bhrathang has the largest apple farm in the country and Manang is an excellent location for acclimatization.
Poon Hill Trekking
The trek is classified as moderately difficult and is typically completed in four days travelling through the Kaski and Myagdi district. The trek begins in Ulleri (1,540 m/5,050 ft) in Kaski, has its main viewpoint at Poon Hill (3,210 m/10,525 ft) in Myagdi, and roughly ends in Ghandruk (1,950 m/6,398 ft) in Kaski.

Most of the trek follows routes through the Gorkha district. The highest point on the trek is the Larke La Pass at an elevation of 5,106 m (16,752 ft).

- Ganesh Himal (7,422 m/24,350 ft)

This trek is rich in a diversity of landscapes and cultural encounters, with a Tibetan influence in many of the examples. You may also experience some of the wildlife present in the Manaslu Conservation Area while trekking, including musk deer, Himalayan tahr, and possibly the elusive snow leopard.
Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking
The trek is a beautiful adventure in eastern Nepal, located in the Taplejung district of Koshi Province. It is part of the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, which is a restricted area and offers limited exploration. The main value of the trek is the stunning views of Mount Kanchenjunga (8,586 m/28,169 ft), the third-highest mountain in the world.
You will have the opportunity to experience close-up views of Kanchenjunga from the Kanchenjunga North Base Camp at 5,143 m (16,873 ft) and the Kanchenjunga South Base Camp at 4,610 m (15,125 ft). It is an adventurous hike, leading into some remote mountainous areas. But there will be opportunities to take in lush green forest environments.
Expect to take two and a half weeks to complete the trek, but plan on access to teahouses along the way. Enjoy a challenging hike into the rich cultures of the Rai, Limbu, and Tibetan communities while surrounded by great views of Kanchenjunga and neighbouring mountains.
